The Hallucination 100 Mile at the Hell Creek Ranch in Michigan was a wild and far out end to the quest for the Midwest Super Slam which of course went down in flames at Burning River in Ohio. But the running and music festival near Pinckney was amazing and totally rekindled the fire under me to go explore the world while running it 100 miles at a time. There were about ten races going on over the weekend at the hippie themed festival plus live music, flower power stickers everywhere, groovy far out hippie vehicles and campsites, peace signs, and a very Woodstocky atmosphere. You almost didn’t notice getting ground up by another hundred miles, although the pouring rain all night did focus your attention a bit. The cold rain changed the plans for about two-thirds of the 100 mile field but Rob and I were stubborn beyond all reason and saw it through. Great destination race, nothing else like it with the combination of all the running and the summer of love atmospherics.
