Every race I show up at turns into a mudfest this year. What gives? Made it through the first leg of the Midwest Super Slam of Ultrarunning, the Indiana Trail 100 Mile but just barely. Sixteen hours of rain wiped out the course and two-thirds of the field. Super well supported race, though, featuring huge blower heaters where you could dry out your clothes between circuits of the 17 mile loop course. Rural Indiana is beautiful and the Chain O’ Lakes State Park where the race was held was full of wild flowers and wild life. Geese and ducks on the ponds. A great adventure. All the pics were taken before the rain. Too busy with the mud to take pictures after the weather set in.
